PASTOR DISGUISES HIMSELF AS A DESTITUTE

Pastor Jeremiah Steepek transformed himself into a homeless person and went to the 10,000- member church that he was to be introduced as the head pastor that morning. He walked around the church for 30 minutes while it was filling with people for service in which only 3 people out of the about 10,000 people said hello to him. He asked people for change to buy food – no one in the church gave him change.He wentinto the sanctuary to sit down in the front of the church and was asked by the ushers if he would please sit in the back. He greeted people only to be greeted back with stares and dirty looks, with people looking down on him and judging him. As he sat in the back of the church, he listened to the church announcements and such.When all that was done, the elders went up and were excited to introduce the new pastor of thechurch to the congregation. “We would like to introduce to you Pastor Jeremiah Steepek.” The congregation looked around clapping with joy and anticipation. The homeless man sitting in the back stood up and started walking down the aisle. The clapping stopped with all eyes on him. He walked up the altar and took the microphone from the elders (who were in on this) and paused for a moment then he recited: “Then the Kingwill say to those on his right,‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him: ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’‘The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you,whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ After he recited this, he looked towards the congregation and told them all what he had experienced that morning. Many began to cry and many heads were bowed in shame. He then said, “Today I see a gathering of people, not a church of Jesus Christ. The world has enough people, but not enough disciples. Run away from families who had the mark of the beast

TRAGEDY:TRUCK CRUSHES PASTOR TO DEATH ON HIS WAY TO CHURCH

November 30, 2015

Tragedy struck on Sunday morning as a truck crushed a pastor, Ojo Mattew, and a commercial okada rider to death on Oyero Road, Ijoko, in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

It was learnt that the motorcyclist, Ayo Nugbohoyon, was taking the pastor to a church when the both of them were crushed by a truck conveying cement and asbestos.

The truck pushed them into the path of an oncoming Toyota Camry car with a Lagos number carrying five members of a family, who were also going to church.

The driver of the car, identified as Samuel, and his family members – wife and three children – reportedly sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital in the area. The car fell into the drainage channel by the roadside.

According to PUNCH, the truck marked Lagos  EPE712XH, was heading inward Oyero from Ogba Ayo when its tyres slipped off the steep part of the road and veered into the motorcycle, which was going towards Ogba Ayo.

The corpses of the dead Pastor and okada man were taken to Ifo General Hospital Mortuary, as policemen from the Agbado division and some residents of the community were seen making efforts to clear the road. Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps later joined them in the operation.

An okada rider and friend of Nugbohoyon, Israel Oyewo, said he (the deceased) had wanted to travel to Benin Republic to meet his wife who gave birth on Friday.
He said, “It is very painful. His wife had a baby two days ago and he had planned to travel later today (Sunday) before the incident happened. The passenger he carried, a pastor, also died. He was taking the pastor to a church.”

An unspecified number of girls have reportedly been abducted by Boko Haram members after an attack in Bam Village which is about 7 kilometres away from Buratai village, the hometown of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai in Borno state.

A resident of Bam village, Ali Bam told The Nigerian Tribune that the sect members arrived their village in the early hours of yesterday November 29th, shooting and setting the place on fire. Four people were killed while an unspecified number of girls were abducted.

Mr. Buhari’s latest move is to label the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a terrorist group. This is coming after Mr. Buhari and the Department of Security Service (DSS) arrested and charged Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB on 3 count charges: illegally entering Nigeria, being the leader of illegal society and
conspiracy to incite violence. After few weeks, the DSS discovered how foolish they look in the face of law with these ridiculous charges and now urged the magistrate court to discontinue the case while looking for unfounded terrorism charges to be filed at the High court. This was after the same DSS refused to release Mr. Kanu who many weeks ago, fulfilled the bail conditions granted by the magistrate court. In case Mr. Buhari doesn’t know what a terrorist group is, I will give him examples. An example of a terrorist group is the Fulani militant. According to Global Terrorism Index (GTI), Fulani militant is the fourth deadliest
terrorist group in the world for killing over 1, 200 people in 2014 alone. Their “sister organization”, Boko Haram is also another example of a terrorist group. GTI named Boko Haram the number one deadliest terrorist group in the world, ahead of Islamic State (IS), for killing over 6, 000 persons in the same
period. Unfortunately, Mr. Buhari recently, to the shock of many, announced that Boko Haram members are his “misguided brothers.” That is to say that, terrorists are Mr. Buhari’s brothers. No wonder immediately he was elected the president, he removed army/police check points across the country and have released all their members detained by the past administration. Recall also that, Mr. Buhari in 2013, said that “any attack against Boko Haram is an attack against the north.” This implies that, Boko Haram is north and vice versa.
So one wonders why Mr. Buhari that supports and enables terrorists plans to label a non- violent group like IPOB a terrorist group? It is on record that IPOB has never killed nor injured anyone but many of her members have been killed and unlawfully detained by the security agents and the evidences have been
documented and sent to Human Right organizations like Amnesty International for further actions. For the sake of clarity, IPOB is the Indigenous people occupying the geographical area known as Biafra/Old Eastern Region (located at Southeast and some parts of South-south in present day Nigeria) recognized by the United Nations. Radio Biafra, in the other-hand is a registered radio station just like Radio Nigeria. So, if Radio Biafra is a pirate radio as being bandied by Mr. Buhari, that means all registered radio stations are pirates too. However, with this latest move by Mr. Buhari, it can be likened to a drowning man that is
looking for anything to hold and keep himself afloat. It’s understandable the tight corner Mr. Buhari
has found himself as regards the arrest of Mr. Kanu, but his attempt to rope IPOB and Mr. Kanu into terrorism lacks basis, unfounded and an effort in futility. It’s imperative for Mr. Buhari to first of all, release Mr. Kanu (who is being unlawfully detained) without further delay and then initial a dialogue with the
IPOB which will set a motion for a referendum. The IPOB favours a UN- supervised referendum where the indigenous people will either vote to remain in Nigeria or join the new country to be called Biafra. It needs 60% of the total vote cast to be “Yes” for the people to have their way. Then, the UN would set up a committee with the mandate to draw up a Programme, including the sharing of joint assets and protection of lives and properties while the assets sharing lasts. It is only in Nigeria where a group that has been killing Nigerians on weekly basis is not labeled a terrorist group, but a non-violent group that have been staging peaceful protest in about 88 countries around the world, instead is called a terrorist group. The SDP Chairman in Imo State, Ogbuefi Val Amafil, said what is on ground to justify Governor Rochas Okorocha's trip to Turkey is only poverty. He asked “what were the plans, what were the
survey plans, who are the industrialists, where are the desirable roads etc”. In the last election, he stated that Imo people brought Rochas Okorocha back to power and it is well for Imo State, stressing that there are no facilities at the industrial layout to suggest that there is a plan in this direction. He stated that it is not a jamboree trip that brings industries, but enabling environment such as power, good roads, public water supply and hygienic environment “Governor's industry! Industry!! Industry!!! is a mere political talk. “Let it be with Imolites, they asked for it, we have been pushed to the wall, complaints mean nothing, it is a family business, No Imo Commissioners, no local Government Chairmen, no council election, no roads”.
The party Chairman remarked that he is very much ashamed that Imo legislators have abandoned their elected office to become servants and errand boys to someone who was elected along side with them. “Where are the checks and balances?” He queried, I challenge Imo people, they know their rights, they should withdraw these dishonourable members forth with”, he fumed. Unfortunately and shameless, he said the lawmakers have abandoned their over sight functions for several executive functions and the reason could be peculiarly, financial inducement, and filthy lucre.
The SDP boss disclosed that traffic lights have been installed but it is abnormal to install traffic lights at round abouts because they are self traffic controlled which give way to traffic on the left but the problem is indiscipline especially in Imo State where the disciplinary ethics, courtesy and patience are lacking, “we should accommodate each other, have patience, courtesy. He further stated that, kekes are most lawless, most indisciplined and most uncourteous with government drivers and so called VIP drivers next to lawless. Secondly and conventionally, the traffic lights work in the system of green, amber (yellow) and red but in the state, it is green to red and vice versa which is catastrophic.
Ogbuefi Amafili maintained that the task forces are menacing the society, “that ought not to be because the people have been given the directives and no sign posts to show One Way, No Entry, No Left/ Right or U-turn stressing that for the taskforces to be harassing people, what of the strangers passing or visiting Owerri. Before you send task forces to harass people, he said, “set up the sign posts”.
He reiterated that Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) is good but it must have to be done in the proper way. “My caution is”, if this task force madness is not well handled, we might spark off an uncontrollable mass or mob action whether of otokoto saga in 1996, of people who feel pushed to the wall, or that they are the down trodden, dehumanized, impoverished and frustrated”, Ogbuefi Amafili warmed.
