A factional president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, says his faction will not be participating in tomorrow May 18th planned strike action against the increased pump price of petrol. Speaking to newsmen in Abuja today, Ajaero said the present economic hardship many Nigerians are facing will increase if the strike holds.

He accused the Ayuba Wabba led faction of the NLC of asking for a loan of N2 billion they took to buy houses to be written off by the government ...

"When you are asking that the loan given to you in 2012, which had not been paid back should be written off, we believe that the action has already been sold out before it takes off. So, we will wait for our group to meet. But definitely, it appears that by ideology and every other thing, we can no longer meet. We thought we should have managed this in the interest of Nigerians but from the look of things, it appear we have to go our different ways. We have condemned the increase and called for negotiation and reversal. It was on the basis of our calls that this meeting was summoned for us to meet and find the way forward.” While insisting that his group will not participate in the strike, Ajaero said, “If we wanted to be serious about an action, you can’t call for an action on Wednesday. It is only an action that is sold out that is called for Wednesday so that by Friday, you say you have strike lethargy and call it off."

The largest cruise ship in the world – measuring more than four football pitches in length with a maximum capacity for 6,780 passengers – has docked in Southampton for final preparations before its maiden voyage. A small crowd of well-wishers, welcomed the £800million Harmony of the Seas as it arrived just after dawn today.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to visit the coastal city this week to catch a glimpse of the gigantic vessel before it carries paying customers for the first time. After sailing from a shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, and spending the day yesterday cruising the English Channel, Harmony of the Seas sailed up Southampton Water and arrived at Southampton shortly after 6:15am.

It will depart on a short cruise on Sunday – a four-day taster voyage to Rotterdam, in the Netherlands – and on 29 May will make its maiden voyage to Barcelona, where it will be based for 34 seven-night tours of the western Mediterranean this summer. It will sail between Florida and the Caribbean this winter. Royal Caribbean International’s 18-deck ship has set new records for length (1,1188ft), gross tonnage (227,000), width (215.5ft), passenger capacity (5,479 at double occupancy or a maximum of 6,780) and staterooms (2,747).

With a crew of 2,100 from 77 countries, the floating city boasts seven 'neighbourhoods', a 10-storey slide that is the tallest at sea, 23 swimming pools, 20 dining venues, 52 trees, surf simulators, robot bartenders, a casino and climbing walls.

A 9ja400 reader sent this in but I'll leave out the name of the school because I wasn't able to confirm it happened there. Read below...

Hello chibuzor, this is a picture of a five month old still born that was found in the toilet of a hostel of a supposed Christian school in Benin city. On the 15th of May 2016 which was a Sunday the cleaners found the aborted child there and alerted the school authorities. The schools clinic evacuated the child and took it for verifications before discarding.
The Vice Chancellor summoned the students on the 16th of May asking the students not to narrate the hideous event to anyone not even their parents nor any social media platform and they will be rewarded appropriately if they all kept mute on the issue. The sum of #500,000 will be given to lure the student who did this to come out. The same school that publicized their core values as transparency and all is now trying to cover up terrible acts like this and dash out huge amounts of money when they can barely afford several amenities for the students.

10 WAYS A KING CAN PLEASE HIS QUEEN…WITHOUT EVEN TOUCHING HER
DISCLAIMER: THIS OPINIONATED ADVICE DOES NOT APPLY TO EVERY WOMAN AND/OR MAN, BUT IT GET’S PRETTY CLOSE

1. Whispering
Casual conversation can become boring, so learn how to soften your voice and whisper the most sincere compliment or feeling into your her ear. Make sure you’re close enough to where she can hear you, but not too close to where it tickles…believe me, tickling will throw things off.. wink emoticon
2. Complimenting
Your Queen receives compliments every day, but yours is the one she anticipates more than anyone. Be sure to observe her from top to bottom, from her fragrance to her fingernails, her nails to her earrings. It shows them that they are important to you and that you value their effort in looking good for themselves and you. Besides, she is your Queen.
3. Listening
Now this one is a hurdle for many, but possible for everyone. Believe it or not fellow Kings, women talk a lot for a reason! Now this doesn’t mean you have to know the reason, if there is one, but what it does mean is to give her you undivided attention in doing so. Turn off all electronics and distractions and engage the conversation with your full attention.
4. Deep eye contact
Having eyes of appreciate and adornment toward your Queen is an art that should never go away. Since the eyes are the gateway to the soul, she should have access to these moments as much as possible. Your eyes can say things your mouth can never say, so practice giving sensual eye contact and an occasional bottom lip bite won’t hurt, just don’t over do it!
5. Surprises
Purchasing tangible items are a given in most relationships, but can you surprise her without buying anything..? Yes, surprises manifest by the imagination and creative ideas you put in place just by using your environment. Candlelight dinner and music at home, surprise money in her purse or even showing up at her job in a suit with flowers, just to take her to lunch. Believe me, she will appreciate the effort if she’s worth her salt!

Lyrics always have a way of saying the things you really want to say, but you must pay attention her favorite music/artist. Take your time to gather them all on a playlist with each song describing a certain way you feel about her. Make sure it’s during a time of no interruptions so you can lead her to the dance floor for a slow dance between her you and God…Believe me, she will feel like she’s on her own private stage.
7. Handwritten Heart-Felt Letter
In a time where technology has overtaken the personal touch method, emoji’s seem to run rampant. But this does not mean you cannot take your time and write out a 4-Page letter, spilling out your feelings and your appreciation for her in your life. Describe the day you met, how you felt and be sure to use descriptive words on how much she means to you . Make sure you date the letter, lace it with a little of your cologne and if you can please be sure to write neatly.
8. Flirting
Verbalizing the impact your Queen has on you with eye contact, with a whisper, lip bite and a wink, will surely let your Queen know that she’s the apple of your eye. In a world filled with free temptation, you want to make sure you are her living DM…and that there’s no competition when it comes to helping her understand how special she is with verbal/ non-verbal inuendos, no matter what. Catch her off guard and make sure you’re a gentleman. Being respectful and sensual is an art, so be sure to practice.
9. Cooking
Know this, woman love to eat, especially if the food you cooked look and smell delicious!
The saying should’ve said the way to a woman’s heart is through her stomach and shoe closet..LOL…Anyway, if you do not know how to cook, then learn FAST. If you do, pay close attention to her favorite meal and beverage. Learn to cook it and have it ready at a time where she least expects it. Make it a habit to cater to her with these meal surprises, so she can see that you take pleasure in pleasing her. Oh…and be sure to have her favorite dessert as well.
10. Advice
When listening to your Queen talk to you about the various things that’s going on in her life, be sure to take quick mental notes. Since many women can talk about various emotional topics in one conversation, you have to know when to take heed to the more important matters. But most importantly, know that she desires your advice. This will show not only that you care what she mentioned but that you also care about what she does next. A listening ear is proven by the words when it’s your turn to speak, so if you can’t offer any advice at that moment, be sure to make mention that you’re going to at least think about it…that’ll buy you some time.

Morocco is currently building what will be a 6000 acre, 580 MW solar plant. It is expected to be completed by 2018, but the country has already turned it on, adding 160 MW to their grid and providing electricity for 650 000 local residents. The plant uses mirrors to reflect sunlight onto a pipeline carrying molten salts which then heats water into to steam, powering turbines.
